Bachata Level 1

Bachata Level 1

Bachata is a type of music and dance. The original meaning of Bachata means a group of people with guitars getting together to sing. Bachata is from the Dominican Republic and its original form consists of intricate guitar rhythm and bongo rhythm. Dominican Bachata has a lot of rapid footwork and weight shifts. Bachata Moderna is the simplified version of Dominican Bachata.Β  A few years ago, Korke and Judith from Southern Spain merged Dominican Bachata with the body movement from Zouk and created Sensual Bachata. Sensual Bachata has slower music and elaborate body movement. Nowadays Sensual Bachata is really popular and is widely danced around the world.

This class will start with Basic Bachata steps, partner connections, and simple turn patterns. Toward the end of Level 1, we would start introducing elements of Sensual Bachata.
